Travelling to Indonesia from Europe takes some time and preparation and most of you haven't been there yet, that's why we want to share some relevant information here to make your trip as smooth as possible.

Before your travel

Visa

People from most european countries (plus US and Brazil) are eligible to get a Visa-on-Arrival when arriving at the airport in Jakarta. It costs 25 US Dollar for a stay of 30 days, 10 US Dollar for a stay of 7 days or less. People staying longer than 30 days have to apply for a visa beforehand!

Medicine & Vaccinations

According to Savetravel.ch there's no risk of Malaria infections in Jakarta, other big towns and touristic areas on Java and Bali. Outside of these areas there is a risk and some prevention might be wise.

Vaccinations that are recommended: diphtheria, tetanus, poliomyelitis, measles, hepatitis A, abdominaltyphus. Please talk to your doctor at least 3 months before your travel about getting vaccinations!

Things to bring along: anti-diarrhea medicine, mosquito reppelant, wet tissues, sun lotion.

Flight to Indonesia

Please buy a ticket to arrive in Jakarta at least a day or two before the wedding, so on 3rd or 4th of May. You'll need some time to recover from a long flight! And who knows, maybe there will even be a bachelors party?

In the past we had good experiences on flights with Emirates, Singapore Airlines and Thai Airlines. Aquedate were KLM and Lufthansa. Not sooo good was Quatar Airlines.

Good travel agencies to book flights are Globetrotter (only in CH) and STA Travel. There are some travel agencies in Switzerland specialized on trips to & inside Indonesia: GerbAirtours, Fernost Reisen.

Stay in Jakarta

Please bring fitting money for the Visa-on-Arrival, then the procedures at the Jakarta Airport are quite efficient. We will try to pick-up everybody at the airport.
